Misty Camden
Executive Director
Misty Camden was raised in Lexington, Virginia. She attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. Misty began her career teaching special education at Rockbridge Middle School for a year and then transferred to third grade at Fairfield Elementary, where she taught for three years. Misty was formally employed by Woods Creek Montessori, where she worked for six years as the Summer Camp Director and Assistant to the Director. She lives in Lexington with her family: her husband, Kris, a general contractor, and their two children, Zoe and Kohen.
Amy Jarrett
Assistant Director
Amy grew up in Charlotte, NC. She received a B.A. in English from Wofford College in 1993, an M.A. in English from Winthrop University in 1994, and a Master’s Degree in Teaching (M.A.T.) from Queens University in 1997. After teaching at Charlotte’s elementary and preschool levels, Amy relocated to Lexington with her family in 2014. Amy began as a substitute teacher at Yellow Brick Road. Then from 2015-2019, Amy taught in the classroom at Shenandoah Preschool and was a children’s yoga teacher at Yellow Brick Road, EarthSong, and the Rockbridge County Public Schools After-School Enrichment Program. Amy comes to Yellow Brick Road from an administrative support role with the Office of Community-Based Learning and the Roger Mudd Center for Ethics at Washington and Lee University. Amy lives with her husband, Cliff, and their three rescue dogs in Rockbridge County. Amy’s two children, Ella and Luke, are Rockbridge County High School graduates.

Board Member Openings
The Yellow Brick Road Early Learning Center (YBR) seeks to fill (up to eight) positions on its board of directors. As a volunteer-based governance board, we aim to involve individuals who share our mission of offering early childhood learning in a nurturing environment for children from families in our community, regardless of their ability to pay.
Specifically, we seek individuals who can provide “hands-on-the-wheel” support for our marketing, event-based fundraising, and strategic planning initiatives. While volunteers with strong business skills, non-profit experience, or an educational background are beneficial, these qualifications are not required.
